Olive Branch named "2011's Fastest Growing City in the United States" by Bloomberg Businessweek. In the spring of 2011, a ranking completed by a location analysis company for Businessweek.com showed that Olive Branch was not only the fastest-growing town in Mississippi, but the fastest growing city in the U.S.
Bloomberg Businessweek announced that since 1990, the population of Olive Branch has grown 838%, to more than 33,000 residents, making Olive Branch the fastest-growing City in the United States in March of 2011.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau the population in 1960 was only 642 and in 1990 had grown to 3,567. Over the next decade the total was 21,054 and by 2010 the population was over 33,000 according to the Decennial Census.
Businessweek.com also reported that more good news for Olive Branch is its unemployment rate. The Mississippi average was 10.2% with Olive Branch’s jobless rate in March 2011 at 7.5%.
With Desoto County’s highly ranked school system, as well as Olive Branch’s greater real estate values and lower crime rate, Olive Branch remains a great city with great families..
